Technique #1

How do I get those stuck on spurs off a figure? One technique is to put the foot with the stuck on spur/strap into a cup of very hot water. This will soften up the strap so it stretches a little as well as soften the spur so it won't break. Then quickly, remove the foot from the water, and gently pry off the spur from the back over the heel. Then with a twisting motion, pull the whole assembly off towards the toe.
